HoldFast Wallet v4.1.3

November 2, 2026

A reliability and security update. Every user should install it. Same app (app.aroundtheblock.wallet) and signing key; it updates in place and your wallet, PIN and settings carry over.

Independent wallet by Around The Block LLC. Not an official DigiByte app.

No more re-syncing from the start: on phones that close idle apps aggressively (seen on Samsung Galaxy), the wallet could mistake those closures for crashes, throw away its sync progress and re-sync for hours. It now counts only real crashes. On Android 15 a long sync no longer crashes at the daily background limit; it stops cleanly and keeps its progress. Turning on Dandelion takes effect at once.

Confirmations and balance: a payment is confirmed only by the wallet's own chain. A height a server reports that the wallet cannot check is no longer taken; if "Scan for missing funds" finds such transactions it offers a rescan from that block. If you ran that scan before 4.1.3, run Full rebuild from chain once to have your history checked against the chain itself.

Recovering a wallet looks further: the scan keeps going while it is still finding activity, and says so if it reaches its limit.

Sending: the wallet refuses an address that nobody controls (a Taproot-style address of the wrong length, or an undefined address version), no longer spends coins worth less than their own fee while a better coin is available, and "send max" leaves them out. "Clear stuck sends" can release a send the network never took; if it did reach its recipient it can still confirm, so check with them before paying again.

Privacy and hardening: with Tor required the wallet makes no plain DNS lookups while Tor is starting, logs no longer name your transactions, the recovery phrase is shown only while the wallet is unlocked, the filter chain is checked against the other connected peers, and the native code is hardened.

Most of these changes come from outside researchers who reported problems to us privately. They are credited in the full release notes on GitHub.
